Wilfred Ndidi has delivered a scathing assessment of Besiktas’ performance following their disappointing 0-0 draw against Fatih Karagumruk in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday at the Tüpraş Stadium.
The Super Eagles captain did not hold back in his post-match reaction after Besiktas failed to convert their dominance and chances into goals in Round 31 of the league.
“The draw is very disappointing. We started the game badly, we couldn't find a solution in the first half,” Ndidi said, as quoted by NTV Spor, reflecting on a slow and disjointed opening period in which Besiktas struggled to break down a disciplined Karagumruk side.
Despite improving after the break and creating several clear opportunities, including a header that struck the post and a missed chance from close range, Besiktas were left frustrated by their lack of clinical finishing.
“We needed to react in the second half, but overall we were bad. This is unacceptable. We will focus on the next game and we have to do better,” Ndidi added, emphasizing the team’s inability to sustain consistent pressure despite multiple attacking moments.
Besiktas came closest to scoring through El Bilal Toure, who hit the crossbar, and Wilfred Ndidi himself, whose powerful header in the closing stages was denied by the post.
Orkun Kökçü and Milot Rashica also failed to capitalise on key openings as Karagumruk goalkeeper Ivo Grbic produced a series of important saves.
The result leaves Besiktas reflecting on missed opportunities in a match they largely controlled but could not win, while Karagumruk secured a valuable away point through disciplined defending.
