Confirmed: Cardiff City loan out Etete to St Mirren until end of the season

With a statement on the official website, Scottish Premiership side St Mirren have announced that Kion Etete has been loaned in from Cardiff City until the end of the 2025-2026 season, subject to international clearance.

The 24-year-old has featured 63 times for the Bluebirds, netting nine goals, and has also spent loan spells at Bolton Wanderers and Rotherham United over the past year.

A product of the Notts County academy, Etete was loaned out to Northampton Town and Cheltenham Town during his spell with Tottenham Hotspur, before sealing a permanent transfer to Cardiff City in 2022.

He becomes St Mirren's third signing of the January transfer window, after Jake Young and Allan Campbell.

Commenting on his temporary switch to St Mirren, Etete stated: "I want to do well, I want to score goals and I want to see how far up the table we can go.

"I trained today. It’s a great bunch of lads and I can't wait to meet the rest of them.

"I think a lot of the stuff that the gaffer said to me I liked the sound of. I spoke to David Turnbull a little, asked him about the gaffer and he had good things to say.

"I just want to bring quality, I want to bring goals, I want to bring points at the end of the day. It's about winning."

Etete links up with Nigeria-eligible duo Roland Idowu and Tunmise Sobowale at St Mirren, who occupy the tenth position in the standings before their next league game against Dundee United.
