Confirmed: Ibadan-born striker released by League One club Mansfield Town

With a statement on the official website, EFL League One club Mansfield Town have announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season.

Among the trio of players released is Ibadan-born striker Victor Adeboyejo, who has previously expressed a desire to represent Nigeria at international level.

Adeboyejo joined Mansfield Town from Bolton Wanderers in the January transfer window, signing a deal until the end of the season.

After scoring one goal and registering an assist in 17 all-competition appearances, Mansfield Town have decided not to extend his stay at One Call Stadium.

A product of the Arsenal academy, the 28-year-old also spent his formative years at AFC Wimbledon, Charlton Athletic and Leyton Orient, before going on to feature for Barnsley, Bristol Rovers, Cambridge United, Burton Albion and Bolton Wanderers.

During his time with Leyton Orient, he gained valuable experience through loan spells at Royston Town, Hemel Hempstead Town, Heybridge Swifts, Dulwich Hamlet, Soham Town Rangers and Margate.

Adeboyejo is a seasoned campaigner in the English Football League, having made 242 appearances and registering 37 goals along with eight assists.

Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian Deji Oshilaja has been retained by the Stags, with his contract set to run until June 2028.
