Confirmed: Nigeria winger Nathan Tella signs new contract with Bayer Leverkusen

Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella has signed a new long-term contract with Bayer Leverkusen, committing his future to the Bundesliga side until June 30, 2031.

The announcement was made through the official website of the club on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old attacker joined Leverkusen from Southampton in 2023 and quickly established himself as an important part of the squad.

His previous contract was set to expire in 2028, but the club moved early to extend his deal, signaling confidence in his long-term contribution.

Tella’s 2025/26 season, however, was disrupted by injuries. He suffered a knee problem in September 2025, sidelining him for several months and causing him to miss key fixtures for both club and country.

Despite the setback, Tella has now recovered and rejoined team training, with the coaching staff carefully managing his reintegration to avoid further complications.

His return provides Leverkusen with a timely boost during a critical stage of the season.

On the pitch, Tella is valued for his pace, versatility, and attacking intelligence.

Primarily deployed as a winger, he is also capable of operating in more advanced roles, giving the team tactical flexibility in the Bundesliga.
