Confirmed team news: Maduka Okoye ruled out of Super Eagles friendly against Jordan

According to a press release made available to allnigeriasoccer.com by the Super Eagles media team, Maduka Okoye suffered an injury during training as Nigeria intensified preparations for Tuesday's international friendly against Jordan.

The Udinese Calcio shot-stopper was recalled for both friendly matches against Iran and Jordan after missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

He marked his return by playing the entire duration as Nigeria secured a 2–1 victory over Iran on Friday at Antalya in Turkey.

However, the 26-year-old later picked up a thigh injury in training and will miss Tuesday’s international friendly against Jordan.

His latest injury represents a significant blow to both player and country, as he was aiming to re-establish himself as Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Stanley Nwabali.

It also raises concerns for Udinese, who are relying on the Nigeria international as they continue their push to maintain their top-flight status in Italian football.

With Okoye sidelined, Francis Uzoho is likely to start in goal against Jordan, given that he is ahead of Adebayo Adeleye in manager Eric Chelle's pecking order of goalkeepers.
