Through a statement on the official website, Brentford have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old forward Kaye Furo, the son of former Super Eagles centre-back Iyenemi Furo, on a permanent deal from Club Brugge.
The transfer is subject to international clearance and a work permit, with the young striker set to join the Bees on a long-term contract.
Kaye Furo has represented Belgium at multiple youth levels, from under-15s through to the under-21s, showcasing his potential on the international stage.
Despite his appearances for Belgium’s youth teams, he remains eligible to play for Nigeria at senior level, having yet to earn a cap for the Belgian senior national team.
This leaves the door open for a possible future call-up to the Super Eagles, following in the footsteps of his father.
Iyenemi Furo was a key figure for Nigeria at the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Nigeria and Ghana, starting in five of the six matches played by the national team.
His experience at the highest level of African football has influenced his son’s development, with Kaye already demonstrating the technical and physical attributes that mark him out as a promising talent.
Furo has already made appearances in Belgium’s Pro League, UEFA Champions League, and Belgian Cup competitions.
His performances at youth and senior levels have drawn attention from several clubs, with Brentford securing his signature as part of their ongoing strategy to recruit young talent capable of contributing immediately and developing further in the club’s environment.
