Through official channels, Bhutan Premier League club Thimphu City FC have confirmed the signing of former Nigeria international John Owoeri.
The financial details and duration of the contract have not been disclosed by Thimphu City.
However, Owoeri has linked up with the Citizens on a free transfer following the expiration of his deal with Futera United.
The 39-year-old is best remembered for his role as a key member of the Flying Eagles side that finished runners-up to Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the final of the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
With Samson Siasia in the Nigeria dugout, Owoeri started five matches during the tournament in the Netherlands and opened the scoring against the hosts in the quarterfinals, before the Flying Eagles progressed via a penalty shootout.
