Done deal: Super Falcons forward joins Nottingham Forest until end of the season

With a statement on the official website, English Women's Super League 2 side Nottingham Forest has confirmed the signing of Nigerian forward Joy Omewa from Danish side Fortuna Hjørring.

The Forest Women recruit has joined the club on a permanent deal that runs until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The 23-year-old forward arrives with significant experience from Denmark’s top flight, having spent five years with Fortuna Hjørring.

During her time with the Kvindeligaen outfit, Omewa scored more than 50 goals and played a key role in the club’s domestic success.

She helped Fortuna Hjørring lift the Danish Women’s Cup on two occasions and was part of the squad that secured the Kvindeligaen league title in the 2024/25 campaign.

Omewa’s performances during Fortuna Hjørring’s league and cup double-winning season were recognised with an individual accolade, as she was named the Kvindeligaen Player of the Season.

The forward began her career in Nigeria with Confluence Queens before moving to Denmark in April 2021 to join Boldklubben af 1893 (B.93).

Omewa has represented Nigeria at both the Under-17 and Under-20 levels.

She earned her first senior cap for the Super Falcons last year and played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s two-legged victory over Benin, securing qualification for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
