Rotherham United star Semi Ajayi is one of the four players in line to make a debut for the Nigerian National Team in Saturday's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles.
The former Arsenal U23 captain has provided the day-to-day happenings in the Super Eagles camp as they prepare to face the Pirates in a game they cannot afford to lose after they were shocked 2-0 by South Africa in Uyo a year ago.
Ajayi was bitterly disappointed when he missed out on the Flying Eagles squad for the 2013 Fifa U20 World Cup despite starring at the Toulon Tournament but has received his maiden call-up to the Super Eagles out of nowhere.
''Day One was mainly a recovery day from all of the travelling, but it has already been a really good experience so far,'' Ajayi told www.themillers.co.uk.
''We went out and stretched our legs with a light stroll and some head tennis on the beach.
''After that it was a case of going back for a gym session which mainly consisted of stretching.
''Today we trained in the morning and again, went back in the afternoon for some more work in the gym.''
He added : ''I think we’ll step up preparations in training again tomorrow and then it will be match preparation on Friday, so hopefully I can impress and be involved in the game."
The 24-year-old Ajayi is comfortable playing as a central defender and defensive midfielder, and has started all the eight matches contested by Rotherham United in the new season.
