Nigeria continue to sweat over the fitness of Samuel Chukwueze before their crucial 2022 World Cup second leg clash against Ghana, with the Villarreal winger sitting out training for the second day running on Sunday, March 27.
The 22-year-old was at the National Stadium in Abuja but didn't participate in any of the team's activities during the session, putting his availability in doubt for Tuesday's fixture.
Chukwueze was at the receiving end of bad tackles by the Ghanaian defenders and soldiered on until the hour mark when he was replaced by Watford star Emmanuel Dennis.
In the 12th minute, Chukwueze was fouled and was in some distress but managed to continue.
Augustine Eguavoen's assistant, Emmanuel Amuneke, who is very close to Chukwueze having worked with him at club level and the U17 national team, provided an update on the right winger at the end of training on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters including allnigeriasoccer.com, Amuneke said : "Chukwueze has some little pains in the back of the muscle."
Asked to comment on the upcoming clash vs Ghana, the former Barcelona winger stated : "We need to win but we just have to be respectful and calm, let us play and let us not be too noisy."
Ademola Lookman, Emmanuel Dennis, Ahmed Musa and Akinkunmi Amoo are the players in contention to replace Chukwueze if he fails to recover in time for the visit of the Black Stars.
