Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru is still in danger of missing the 2018 World Cup.
La Dernière Heure says
Anderlecht tested the knee of the Nigeria international yesterday and
the earliest possibility of the striker resuming full training with the
first team is two weeks.
He suffered a serious knee injury in a
Belgian First Division A tie against Eupen three days before Christmas
and it was thought he would be out of action for the remainder of the
season.
Anderlecht signed American international Kenny
Saief on loan from Gent in the January transfer window as replacement
for Onyekuru and the Super Eagle may find it difficult to replace him on
the left flank, while he is also presently behind Ryota Morioka and
Pieter Gerkens in the pecking order of support strikers.
Therefore,
Onyekuru may not get enough playing time before the end of the season,
and it would dim his chances of gatecrashing Nigeria's World Cup squad.
Before the 20-year-old's spell on the sidelines, he scored 10 goals in 28 matches across all competitions.
