Former Nigeria U23 invitee Tomi Adeloye has revealed that he tested at Chelsea for few weeks before joining Charlton Athletic.
The center forward, who is good pals with Everton's Nigeria international Alex Iwobi, admitted that the Stamford Bridge outfit passed up the opportunity to sign him but informed him that they would keep tabs on him.
"I used to be like that in the school football team, I had good techniques so I used to take corners and set pieces and couldn't run," Adeloye told FOOTY258.
"I just shoot from anywhere and probably score but I couldn't move so I started losing weight and training, getting quite big in the right areas.
"And then I got picked up by Chelsea and it didn't really last long, I was there for like two weeks and they said they'll keep an eye on me".
Adeloye passed his audition at Charlton Athletic with flying colours and he has explained why he felt at home straightaway at the Addicks.
"And then a couple of weeks later I got picked up by Charlton, and that's when I started to enjoy football properly because they had lot of people from ends, so I was playing football with friends and people that are from a similar kind of background.
"It was good to introduce almost playing professionally obviously at a young age for a professional club with people that are all organized," he added.
Adeloye, who attended a Nigeria U23 training camp in 2016, played for Charlton and Millwall's youth teams before moving to Stoke City, where he signed his first professional contract.
