Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Ndubuisi Egbo's search for a new employer is over, following his appointment as assistant manager of Saudi Arabian Division 1 club Ohod this week.
Egbo, a member of the Nigeria squad to the 2000 and 2002 Africa Cup of Nations, had been out of job since November 2020 when he parted company with Albanian side KF Tirana, whom he led to win the league title in 2019-2020.
According to Egbo's agent, Johnson Chibuzo Nwankpa of JCN-Johnson Sports Management, teams based in South Africa, Lithuania, Latvia and Slovakia were interested in hiring his client before he opted for Ohod.
"Ndubuisi Egbo has been appointed assistant coach of Saudi Arabian club Ohod. The contract is for one year and three months, until the end of the 2022-2023 season," Polish-based intermediary Nwankpa told allnigeriasoccer.com.
"The team was not doing well before he came. In his first match after he came they won away.
"He had offers in Lithuania, Slovakia and Lativia. Black Leopards in South Africa wanted him before and after they were relegated, I spoke to the Chairman but he rejected their offer."
After thirty matches in the Saudi Arabian second-tier, Ohod occupy the fifth position in the standings with 49 points, four less than table toppers Al Khaleej.
