Fit-again Moses makes first start in three months as Slavia Prague beat Banik Ostrava

David Moses made a welcome return to Slavia Prague’s starting XI on Easter Sunday, helping the Czech league leaders secure a 2-0 victory over FC Baník Ostrava in the 28th round of the Chance Liga.

Moses, who had been sidelined for three months after picking up an injury in January against Barcelona, slotted seamlessly back into the midfield, providing energy and composure as Slavia dominated the game.

The visitors took control early, showing their intent with a series of attacking moves.

Their breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when Tomáš Chorý converted a penalty after Matěj Chaluš handled the ball in the box, giving Slavia an early advantage.

Just nine minutes later, the lead was doubled through Lukáš Provod, who capitalized on a precise setup from Mojmír Chytil to beat Baník goalkeeper Martin Jedlička, sending Slavia into halftime 2-0 up.

Alongside Moses, Slavia featured two other Nigerians in the lineup: defender Igoh Ogbu and midfielder Samuel Isife. Both contributed to the team’s solid performance, with Ogbu helping control the backline and Isife actively linking defense to attack.

Their presence added balance to the team, complementing Moses’ return and helping maintain possession in key areas of the pitch.

Baník Ostrava struggled to create meaningful chances, with occasional threats from Abdallah Gning and Václav Jurečka being well-contained by Slavia’s disciplined defense.

In the final stages, Baník was awarded a late penalty, but goalkeeper Jakub Markovič made a decisive save to preserve the clean sheet.

Slavia’s win keeps them firmly at the top of the table, reinforcing their title credentials.

Moses’ comeback is a timely boost for Slavia as they push toward the final stretch of the season, offering creativity and experience to their midfield ahead of crucial fixtures.
