At some point, Super Eagles fans were concerned about the availability of Victor Osimhen for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers after he suffered a calf injury in training in the days leading up to the Serie A clash against Salernitana.
Scans later revealed that the injury was not as bad as we were led to believe, putting him in contention to make his fifth consecutive start in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The 2015 U17 World Cup winner has finally linked up with the national team in Tangier and participated in the morning and evening training sessions.
Osimhen has made it clear that he is in tip-top condition and ready to face Liberia if called upon by the coaching staff.
Speaking to the Super Eagles Media Team on Wednesday, Osimhen said : "I feel good. After the MRI scan showed I had nothing serious it was important to rest for few days before I play the game on Sunday.
"Like I said before I'm always ready when I am called upon and to give my all for my country is one of the most important things in my career and of course I'm ready come Saturday."
Former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo, a mentor to Osimhen, has been handed an invitation to the Super Eagles, more than two years after he called time on his international career.
Osimhen said he's looking forward to playing with the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer.
"It's good for the team and of course the coaches and the Federation know what's best for the team.
"We welcome him with open arms and looking forward to receiving him in the camp.
"Like I said before he's like a big brother to me and we love him a lot and I'll learn a lot from him, I admire him so much so I think for me it's one of the most important things to have him in the squad.
"We all have a common goal to qualify the nation for the World Cup and to do well in the AFCON so whatsoever thing that is good for the team I think the coach and the Federation will bring it into play," Osimhen concluded.
