Former Nigeria U20 international Semi Ajayi was on target in the League Cup on Wednesday night, but Rotherham United lost 2-1 to Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town.

The Arsenal product scored seconds after the opening minute when he headed home a cross from Anthony Forde.

Ajayi was brilliant defensively, especially when he stopped Depoitre from creating havoc and stuck out a leg in the box to halt Palmer in the 33rd and 48th minute respectively.

The home team equalized from the penalty spot six minutes out of intermission before Joe Lolley scored what proved to be the winning goal on 54 minutes.

The 23-year-old Ajayi has started every single game contested by The Millers in all competitions in the new season.
