Fresh from international duty with the Super Eagles, Frank 'The Tank' Onyeka made his third consecutive start in the top-flight for Brentford, joining Canos, Jensen, Norgaard, and Henry as part of a five-man midfield.
The Nigeria international played through the pain barrier for more than 55 minutes before he was replaced in the second half.
Around the tenth minute mark, Onyeka required treatment on the pitch after receiving a knock to the face and it was initially thought that he was going to be replaced as Mads Bidstrup was seen putting his shirt on but the Nigerian managed to continue.
Bryan Mbeumo came so close to breaking the deadlock but his effort hit the post midway through the first half before Romelu Lukaku's effort was ruled out for offside.
For the second game running, Ben Chilwell got on the scoresheet for Chelsea with a brilliant left-footed strike in first half stoppage time.
Despite the Bees' attempts in the second half, the Blues were able to hold on for three points thanks to brilliant goalkeeping from Edouard Mendy.
