Brentford manager Keith Andrews has described Coventry City's loan signing of Frank Onyeka as a shrewd buy, backing the Nigerian international to make a strong impact in the Championship.

Onyeka joined the Sky Blues during the winter transfer window after struggling for regular minutes at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium. 

However, the midfielder is yet to make his Coventry debut, having been an unused substitute in Brentford's goalless draw with Oxford City last weekend.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Andrews expressed confidence in Onyeka's ability to succeed at the CBS Arena, highlighting his experience and all-round qualities. 

He noted that the midfielder's presence could strengthen Coventry's squad and aid their push for promotion to the Premier League.

"Frank's a Nigerian international, that's vastly experienced," he said before the 3-2 win over Newcastle at the St James' Park. 

"He's been on this journey with the club since being promoted from the championship. Tough tackling, box to box midfielder that can get goals.

"I think he's a really shrewd buy for Coventry, for where they're at and where they hopefully want to get to."

Onyeka will be hoping to earn his first minutes for Coventry in Monday's top-of-the-table clash against Middlesbrough on February 16, as he looks to use his experience to help the Sky Blues secure a vital win and reclaim top spot in the league.
