Fulham's Anglo-Nigerian winger enhances reputation with second minute goal vs Chelsea U18s

England U18 international of Nigerian descent Michael Olakigbe put in a brilliant display as Fulham registered an impressive 2-0 road win over Chelsea in an U18 Premier League fixture on Saturday.

By scoring in the second minute against the Blues, the Anglo-Nigerian starlet took his tally for the season to six goals in the U18 Premier League and he has set up three other goals in fourteen outings.

Derrick Abu and Tudor Mendel-Idowu both started for Chelsea, Louis Flower was a 78th minute substitute, while Olakigbe was the only player of Nigerian descent on parade for the young Cottagers at Cobham.

Fulham stamped their authority early in the game and took the lead when Olakigbe's deflected shot beat the Chelsea goalkeeper.

The 2004-born winger was involved in the build up to Fulham's second goal on the half-hour mark when he found Olly Sanderson, whose cut-back was converted by Lanquedoc.

The lively Olakigbe could have been celebrating an assist few minutes later but his cross was narrowly headed wide by Sanderson.

A product of East Soccer Base Academy, Olakigbe joined Fulham from Queens Park Rangers in 2018.
