Goalscoring centre-back with Super Eagles ambitions on target again for Rangers

Emmanuel Fernandez continues to enhance his reputation as a goalscoring central defender after finding the net for Rangers in a 1–0 victory over Hibernian in a Scottish Premiership encounter at Ibrox Stadium on Monday night.

Prior to his summer move to Rangers, the 24-year-old registered seven goals in 61 appearances across all competitions for Peterborough United, underlining his threat in the opposition penalty area.

Allnigeriasoccer.com has recently been told that Fernandez has reiterated his desire to play for the Super Eagles, and 'he's planning to start the process'.

Born in London, he has Nigerian heritage through his father and his Nigerian-born mother.

Despite operating primarily as a centre-back, Fernandez has emerged as a notable attacking outlet this season, scoring three goals, each of them from headers.

A constant presence at set pieces, he has consistently used his aerial strength, timing and physicality to telling effect, rising above his markers to convert from close range.

Against Hibernian, the Super Eagles hopeful struck what proved to be the decisive goal in the 35th minute, nodding home an accurate delivery from Dujon Sterling.

After a challenging start to his Rangers career, Fernandez has now completed the full 90 minutes in each of the club's last five Premiership matches.
