'He can't get along with Batshuayi - Ex-Besiktas midfielder suggests ideal partner for Osimhen

Former BeÅŸiktaÅŸ midfielder Sinan Engin has suggested the ideal striking partner for Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen.

Okan Buruk has preferred to play with two strikers since the arrival of the Super Eagles star and settled for him and Mauro Icardi as his first-choice strikers.

However, Icardi picked up an injury and the Galatasaray coach initially decided to use Osimhen as a lone striker, as evident in the 3-2 win over Samsunpor.

In the following fixture against Bodrum FK, he reverted to a front two, pairing Osimhen with Dries Mertens but after seeing his side struggle for goals, he introduced Michy Batshuayi in the second half.

Batshuayi went on to grab the winner and was rewarded for his performance by being named in the starting lineup in the UEFA Europa League fixture against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.

Speaking on Assist Analysis Youtube channel.via Haber Sari Kirmizi, Engin has suggested that the Belgium forward cannot play together with Osimhen and stated that Icardi is the ideal striking partner for the Napoli-owned forward.

"Victor Osimhen is the only one left in Galatasaray after Mauro Icardi, he can't get along with Michy Batshuayi. Mauro Icardi was the right partner for Osimhen. Icardi knows how to play," he explained.

“They are good chances for each other. Now, to bring the ball to Osimhen, you will either put Mertens next to Osimhen or make the midfield crowded.

"Okan Buruk's bench is not very rich either. 2-3 players left, it is down to 15-16 players."

It remains to be seen if Buruk will stick with the duo as they face Eyüpspor at RAMS Park in Sunday’s Trendyol Süper Lig clash.
