'He has no reason to be sad' - Sevilla striker consoles Akor Adams after stoppage time miss in Seville derby

Akor Adams received strong support from teammate Isaac Romero after the Super Eagles forward missed a chance in stoppage time that could have secured all three points for Sevilla in a dramatic derby encounter in Seville on Sunday night.

The match, played at the La Cartuja Stadium, ended in a 2-2 draw, with Adams visibly disappointed after failing to convert a stoppage-time opportunity.

Romero, who played a key role in motivating his teammates during the tense closing stages, moved quickly to console the Nigerian striker.

Speaking to DAZN after the match, Romero praised Adams’ work ethic and contribution to the team’s attacking play.

He was quoted as saying by Ondacero: “He has no reason to be sad, he has worked very well, he has done everything he could and he should be happy for this valuable point.”

The Spanish striker insisted that the result was a fair reflection of the team’s fighting spirit after they recovered from a two-goal deficit.

Sevilla had struggled in the first half but showed greater intensity after the break, mounting a comeback that secured a crucial point in a tightly contested fixture.

Romero scored the equalizing goal and later highlighted the importance of unity within the squad.

He explained that the team had discussed staying focused during halftime and believed their collective effort helped them turn the game around.

Despite the missed opportunity, Akor Adams has been an important attacking option for Sevilla this season, having scored six goals and provided three assists in La Liga.
