Nigeria's caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has made it clear that Olisa Ndah remains in his plans despite the omission of the Orlando Pirates rising star from the Super Eagles squad to take on Ghana next week.
Ndah was added to Nigeria's 2021 Africa Cup of Nations roster as a replacement for the recuperating Glasgow Rangers center-back Leon Balogun and went on to make his competitive debut for the Super Eagles off the bench in the dead rubber clash against Guinea-Bissau during the tournament in Cameroon.
Former Germany U20 international Kevin Akpoguma was Eguavoen's first choice to replace Balogun but TSG Hoffenheim did not give him the go-ahead to travel to Africa as the Bundesliga was back in full swing after the winter break.
Upon his return from Africa Cup of Nations duty, Ndah has impressed for Orlando Pirates, helping the DStv Premiership giants post five clean sheets in nine all-competition appearances.
"That was why I had to opt for that young boy in South Africa who is unfortunately not on the list now," Eguavoen said to Elegbete TV Sports.
"But that's not to say he's out, talking about Ndah. He's another good player, I saw him in the League here.
"He's doing well in Orlando Pirates, he went to AFCON but he's not presently in the list, that does not mean he's not going to part of this team as time goes on."
Former Akwa United defender Ndah was recommended to Eguavoen by Honourable Boma Iyaye, the Rivers State Commissioner for Sports.
