Former Super Eagles star Odion Ighalo has revealed that many Nigerians have started supporting Manchester United since he transferred to the club in the January transfer window.
Before the start of United's Premier League game against Watford last weekend, some Nigerian fans were spotted outside Old Trafford chanting Ighalo's name.
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Golden Boot winner became the first Nigerian-born player to represent Manchester United in a competitive game when he made his debut against Chelsea on February 17.
"Yeah many Nigerians are now supporting Man United as I'm the first Nigerian to play for Man United. Even here in the UK, many are coming to watch the games," Ighalo said to United's official Twitter account.
"I saw them after the game yesterday, they were singing and dancing and it was great for me. It was great support for me and the team.
"I saw them! Some people sent me some videos with what they were doing outside the stadium. I was very pleased with that.
"I stopped after the game and took pictures with them. I had to thank them for their support."
The 30-year-old Ighalo opened his goalscoring account for the Red Devils in their 5-0 hammering of Club Brugge in the Europa League two days ago.
