'Iheanacho Has A Better Goal-Per-Minute Ratio Than Vardy' - Leicester City Expert Explains Why Nigerian Is Not Inconsistent
In a transfer webchat live session with Leicester City fans, Leicestershire Live reporter Jordan Blackwell has pointed out that Kelechi Iheanacho has a better goal-per-minute ratio than English Premier League Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy.
The Foxes have been linked with Roma's Patrik Schick, Brentford's Ollie Watkins and Real Madrid's Luka Jovic in the summer transfer window.
Blackwell defended Iheanacho after a fan questioned the consistency of the Nigeria international and stressed that the signing of a striker is not a priority at the moment.
Last season, the 2013 U17 World Cup winner netted 10 goals in 26 appearances spread across 1,314 minutes, whereas Vardy netted 23 goals in 40 games while logging 3,428 minutes.
"I don't think a striker is priority at the moment, not compared to a wide-man or centre-back. Both Jovic and Watkins would cost a fair amount, and neither would start ahead of Vardy," said Blackwell.
"Personally, I don't think Iheanacho is inconsistent. He scored one goal every 131 minutes last season. Vardy scored one goal every 149 minutes and nobody is calling him inconsistent."
Iheanacho has resumed pre-season training with Leicester City and came on at half-time in their goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.
