Former African Footballer of the Year Victor Ikpeba is backing Chelsea to beat Real Madrid in tonight's UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but predicted that the Premier League side won't make it to the last four.
In their quest to defend the title they won last season, the Blues are looking to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg of the quarterfinal clash held at Stamford Bridge six days ago.
Real Madrid have depended on Karim Benzema for goals this season and the Frenchman has not disappointed, scoring a remarkable 37 goals in all competitions including two hat-tricks in back-to-back Champions League matches.
Speaking on SuperSport's Monday Night Football monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com, Ikpeba said : "Real Madrid will score two, Benzema will score two, there will be goals in that encounter.
"I see a 3-2 scoreline in favour of Chelsesa but they will not go through."
Ikpeba touched on the form of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, saying that the two Chelsea strikers have been struggling for goals this season.
The German is with the Chelsea squad in Spain but the Belgian has not traveled due to injury.
"Timo Werner rarely scores. When a striker is in that mood he lacks confidence and it's a question of doing it from week to week and when you don't do it five to six games then you don't have that confidence even when those chances come.
"I said Lukaku coming to Chelsea is a blunder. He was playing well for Inter Milan, the whole team built around him, supporting him.
"Here at Chelsea too much star players, he's not going to get the ball every time. The style of play is so difficult, I hope he moves on because I don't think Chelsea is a club for him," Ikpeba concluded.
