Former Barcelona trialist Usman Muhammed has shared his thoughts ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations 2025 semi-final clash against host nation Morocco.
The highly anticipated fixture is scheduled to take place later today, with Nigeria aiming to secure a place in the final.
Speaking on the general mood within the Nigerian camp as preparations continue, Muhammed expressed satisfaction with how things have progressed so far.
He told reporters in Morocco: "Everything is going good until now".
When asked directly about the team’s objective heading into the semi-final encounter, the midfielder was clear in his response.
"win for sure. That's the only answer. Yeah. Win. A win. That's all. That's all we focus on. Yeah," Muhammed stated.
Addressing comments from the coaching staff suggesting the squad may be fatigued, Muhammed dismissed any concerns about tiredness.
Responding to a question on how he personally feels, he said, "maybe he's playing games, but I don't think we're tired to be honest."
Muhammed has yet to feature in the tournament, and when questioned about whether this situation has been disappointing despite making the final squad, he maintained a positive outlook.
"No, because I know at every moment I'll get my chance. So, I'm ready. I'm focused. I'm happy. You know, we're winning. We're just focused on winning. That's all that matters at the moment," he said.
The midfielder was also asked to give his perspective on the opposition, having observed Morocco’s performances during the competition.
Muhammed acknowledged their quality but expressed confidence in Nigeria’s strength. "good team, but I think we're better," he stated.
Speaking further on the environment around the team ahead of the semi-final, Muhammed described a positive and energetic atmosphere within the camp.
When asked about the mood and build-up to the match, he said, "The atmosphere is very good. We're happy. We're hyped. Waiting for tomorrow."
