FC Porto manager Francesco Farioli has confirmed that Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi will make his debut against Nacional on Sunday, following the absence of Luuk de Jong and Samu Aghehowa due to injury.
Moffi moved to the Portuguese club on a loan deal from Ligue 1 side OGC Nice until the end of the season, following an early-season clash with his former club’s supporters.
Although included in the matchday squad, Moffi did not make his debut against Sporting Lisbon, remaining an unused substitute throughout the game.
In his press conference on Saturday, Francesco revealed that the Nigerian international has shown notable improvements in his physical condition over the past few days.
"He's been working very well and we were just seeing that he's improved a lot physically in the last few days," he said as quoted by Ojogo.
"His body fat is back to that of an elite player and he's been training very well, with a great attitude and the right spirit."
The Italian manager confirmed that the Nigerian international will make his debut but did not clarify whether he will start or be used off the bench.
"Tomorrow he'll be part of the game, starting or coming on as a substitute. It will certainly be his day tomorrow," he confirmed.
"We're at a point where we have two number 9s with serious injuries and we'll need his contribution as well."
The 36-year-old praised the management for strengthening the squad, ensuring the team can handle injuries throughout the campaign.
"Here too, the club has done a magnificent job in giving us the best solutions. We'll finish the season with Deniz [Gul] and Terem [Moffi], and Samu and Luuk [de Jong] will be two fans watching from the sidelines."
Against Nacional, Moffi will be aiming to deliver a strong performance and regain his top form after a difficult spell in France.
