Arsenal star Alex Iwobi was the player nominated to represent the Super Eagles at Tuesday morning's pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow's Africa Cup of Nations third place play-off against Tunisia.
The attacking midfielder revealed that the Super Eagles want to leave the competition on a good note after their heartbreaking loss to Algeria in the semifinal.
''There is still one more game to play, we'll like to go on a high and we'll like to go out with a win,'' Iwobi told reporters including allnigeriasoccer.com.
''Even though we lost the semifinal, of course it hurts, there is no better place to put it right than in the third/fourth place play-off, so hopefully we can use our anger to try and win that game.''
Iwobi has insisted that the Super Eagles performed well at the Africa Cup of Nations and their unexpected loss to Madagascar was a wake-up call.
'''After Madagascar of course we were hurt but I guess it was a quick wake-up call that we needed to realize that every team in the competition is here to compete and do well.
''Even though we lost we also used it as a learning for our mistakes and we are able to progress this far.
''I personally believe we are such a young team Nigeria, we have done well , we have done our country proud, we have fought in every game and we can go out with our heads held high but we still have one more game to play.
''Like the coach said, it is better to win than losing again so hopefully we can do it.''
Asked to touch on his best playing position for the Super Eagles, Iwobi said : ''In regards of my position wherever I'm told to play, whether it is on the left, whether it is on the right, whether it should be middle, I always play and give my best but growing up as a child I was used to playing the midfield role.
''Anywhere I am told to play I always give my best.''
