The Jordan Football Association has confirmed a friendly against Nigeria's Super Eagles on Tuesday evening, March 31, at Amman International Stadium.
Last June, Jordan qualified for their first-ever World Cup, finishing second in Group B of the third round of Asian qualifiers for the tournament, which will be held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will miss back-to-back World Cups following a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the African playoffs final last November.
According to the online edition of Jordanian Arabic daily Al Ghad, the encounter with Nigeria carries particular significance due to the calibre of the Super Eagles.
Known for their physical strength, blistering pace, and extensive experience in both continental and international competitions, Nigeria presents Jordan’s technical staff with an ideal opportunity to assess the team’s ability to cope with high-intensity play.
Jordan’s players will be tested on maintaining tempo, handling physical challenges, and responding to tactical pressure.
With their World Cup Group J clash against Algeria scheduled for June 22 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Jordanian manager Jamal Sellami is using the friendly to gauge his team’s readiness against a top-tier African opponent.
While the Super Eagles occupy 26th place in the latest Fifa rankings, Jordan are ranked ninth in Asia and 64th globally.
Iran and Costa Rica will also feature in the four-team international tournament in Amman in March 2026.
