Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi was absent once again as OGC Nice wrapped up their final match of the year with a 2-1 victory over Saint-Étienne, amid growing transfer interest from Premier League sides Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Moffi has now missed consecutive fixtures for Nice, including the clashes against Angers SCO and Lens, following the tense standoff involving supporters after the club’s defeat to Lorient in November.
The Nigerian international, alongside teammate Jérémie Boga and sporting director Florian Maurice, was reportedly confronted by a group of about 400 aggrieved supporters as the team bus arrived at the training centre.
The fans allegedly blocked the bus, lit flares, chanted hostile songs, and verbally confronted players and staff for nearly 45 minutes.
The incident has since created an uneasy atmosphere around the striker, fuelling speculations about his future at the club ahead of the January transfer window.
According to reports from Media Foot, relayed by Sport, both Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are exploring the possibility of signing Moffi to bolster their attacking departments.
Leeds are reportedly in the market for a striker capable of providing strong competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while Wolves see Moffi as a potential source of crucial goals as they work to secure their Premier League survival.
Although the upcoming window is expected to be active, any move could hinge on negotiations with Nice, given that Moffi remains under contract until 2027.
The 26-year-old has endured a slow start to the campaign, registering just three goals in 15 appearances across all competitions.
As interest intensifies, the Nigerian forward will be keen on securing a move that could help revive his form and provide a fresh start after a challenging first half of the season.
