Leicester City Monitoring Nigeria Target Jason Akiotu,Dubbed The New Alaba
English Premier League leading Leicester City have handed a trial to the highly-rated Nigerian defender Jason Akiotu.<br /><br />Leicester City’s coaching staff ran the rule over the the wing-back on Monday during the 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the U21 Premier League and he was also in action for the Foxes in their defeat to Chelsea last month.<br /><br />The 18-year-old, who was born in London, has made a number of appearances for Crystal Palace’s Under 18 squad in the ongoing season as well as for the Development Squad.<br /><br />Akiotu spent seven years with the academy team of the Eagles before he was offered his first professional contract in February 2016, a month before he celebrated his 18th birthday.<br /><br />According to the defender, he models his game after Bayern Munich’s Austria star David Alaba, whose dad is Nigerian.<br /><br />He is thought to be on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation and was invited to train with the Nigeria U17s in December 2014.<br /><br />Leicester City have been linked with two other Nigerian players, Ahmed Musa(CSKA Moscow) and Nathaniel Oseni(Manchester City), in recent months.<br /><br />Ifeanyi Emmanuel <br />
