Legendary Liverpool striker Michael Owen has insisted that the video assistant referee was correct to disallow a goal netted by Ademola Lookman during the second half of Leicester City's 2-1 loss to Brighton & Hove at American Express Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Foxes were denied a goal in the 66th minute that would have seen them level proceedings due to Harvey Barnes being in an offside position in the build-up to Lookman's close range finish.
The RB Leipzig loanee changed the game following his introduction at half-time, and showed the fans what he is about, with his pace and trickery causing problems for the Seagulls defenders.
Barnes was also deemed to be interfering with play from an offside position and Wilfred Ndidi's 85th minute goal was chalked off after a VAR review.
Speaking on Premier League Production's Premier League Wrap, Owen said : "This is the first one, Brendan Rodgers certainly thinks it's a goal but again VAR intervenes and Harvey Barnes you just see there stood in the direct line of the goalkeeper .
"Offside is given and I happen to think that's the right decision. However the next one is open to debate."
Since netting the game-winning goal against Sheffield United on February 20, 2021, Lookman has yet to score in the English top-flight.
