Rio Ngumoha's historic strike against Fulham is in contention for the Premier League Goal of the Month award for April 2026.
On April 11, 2026, the England youth international of Nigerian descent became Liverpool's youngest-ever goalscorer at Anfield at 17 years and 225 days after finding the net in the 36th minute of Liverpool's 2-0 win over Calvin Bassey's Fulham.
Ngumoha surpassed the previous record held by Raheem Sterling, who scored at the venue aged 17 years and 317 days against Reading in October 2012.
Against the Cottagers, Ngumoha opened the scoring in style, curling a sublime effort into the bottom corner to hand Liverpool an early advantage.
Ngumoha has been nominated for the Premier League Goal of the Month alongside Mathias Jensen (Brentford), James Justin (Leeds United), Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton and Hove Albion), Xavi Simons (Tottenham Hotspur), Rayan Cherki (Manchester City), Andy Robertson (Liverpool) and Eberechi Eze (Arsenal).
Interestingly, the last two winners of the Premier League Goal of the Month award both have Nigerian heritage, with Tottenham Hotspur's Dominic Solanke winning it in February and Newcastle United's William Osula claiming the honour in March.
Voting for the Premier League Goal of the Month closes at 12pm BST on Monday, 4 May, with the winner set to be announced at 1pm on Friday, 8 May.
