Speaking at the embargoed post-match press conference after his side's 5-0 hammering f Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola revealed that Anglo-Nigerian starlet Samuel Edozie will be involved in first-team training throughout this season.
Transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano reported that the England U18 international is interesting German Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, as well as La Liga side Valencia in the summer transfer window.
Edozie was promoted to first-team training in pre-season and caught the eye of Guardiola after finding the net in all of their preparatory games against Preston North End, Barnsley and Blackpool.
Edozie being handed his professional debut in City's Community Shield clash with Leicester wasn't a one-off reward for his fine performances in pre-season, with the Spanish football tactician confirming that the Anglo-Nigerian and five other emerging talents will continue to workout with the first team stars.
Guardiola told reporters : "It's the best way to help their development because the problem in the academies today here in England, the distance between the first team competition in the Premier League and the competition they play is too big. It's really, really big and it's difficult to promote them from here.
"That's the best way with the players we believe have potential - like Sam Edozie, another guy - these guys are going to be with us."
Edozie went the distance for Manchester City U23s in their Premier League 2 opener against Liverpool but wasn't in the squad vs Blackburn Rovers three days ago.
