Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday's Nigeria-eligible left-back Yisa Alao ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.

According to The Daily Mail, both clubs have made enquiries about the highly-rated 17-year-old, who has yet to sign on a professional contract amid Sheffield Wednesday's ownership uncertainty.

Alao, who signed a scholarship with the Owls in the summer of 2025, became eligible for a professional deal after turning seventeen last month.

Since the start of the season, he has been named in fifteen matchday squads across official competitions, including thirteen in the Championship, and has made three first-team appearances, featuring in both the Carabao Cup and the league.

United have reportedly lodged a bid of around £450,000 for the Doncaster-born defender, with Liverpool weighing a similar offer as other clubs monitor the situation closely.

In his final season as a schoolboy, Alao featured for Sheffield Wednesday U18s, helping them to a second-placed finish in the U18 PDL North and qualification for the playoffs.

Having joined the club at U7 level, he has progressed through the academy ranks to make his senior debut against Bolton Wanderers in August.
