Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Odion Ighalo is showing Anthony Martial how to play in the number nine role.
Ighalo has been a mentor to Martial since his arrival at Old Trafford in the January transfer window and it has paid off, with the Frenchman scoring seven goals in his last nine matches in all competitions.
The former Nigeria international has also been impressive for United despite his limited playing time, specifically in the Premier League, with five goals in his first four starts.
While Ighalo has been a center forward throughout his career, Martial has often been used as a winger by the Manchester United and France coaches.
"Odion is a seasoned No 9. He's played that position his whole career whereas Anthony has played more out on the wing," Solskjaer said to Sky Sports.
"Odion is helping on the training pitch, in terms of his movement, hold-up play and just being himself... Anthony's learning off an experienced centre-forward."
Ighalo and his mentee Martial are expected to play a part when Manchester United tackle Brighton & Hove in the English top-flight this evening.
