2019 Nigeria U17 invitee Malcolm Ebiowei was handed his senior debut by Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney on Tuesday night as Derby County defeated Hull City 3-1 in a Championship match at Pride Park Stadium.
The attacking midfielder's first squad involvement for the Rams' first team was against Birmingham City in the Championship on January 30 and he was also a non-playing substitute the following matchday versus Huddersfield Town.
Ebiowei went one better for the visit of the Tigers when he was sent on to replace another Hale End Academy product Luke Plange by Rooney in the third minute of stoppage time.
The Anglo-Dutch-Nigerian starlet was aged 18 years and 157 days in his first match as a professional.
Signed from Scottish champions Rangers in September 2021, Ebiowei has lit up the U18 Premier League so far this season, scoring seven goals in seven matches including a treble against Leeds United, and also bagged a hat-trick against Chelsea in the U18 Premier League Cup.
It was on the back of those performances he was promoted to first team training by Rooney.
Republic of Ireland U21 international of Nigerian descent, Festy Ebosele scored Derby County's third goal against Hull City two minutes into the second half.
