Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has addressed the challenges Nigeria will face in their Africa Cup of Nations 2025 semi-final clash against hosts Morocco on Wednesday.
The match, scheduled to take place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat will see Nigeria go up against one of the tournament favourites in front of a passionate home crowd.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the encounter, Awaziem acknowledged the presence of Morocco’s supporters and the atmosphere they are likely to create.
He said, "I mean, we all know that Morocco is the host team, so we know they're going to have massive supporters in the stadium."
The defender emphasized the team’s approach to handling the pressure and focusing on their own performance during the crucial fixture.
Awaziem explained, "So, I mean, we just want to turn their fears to the fans and be focused on the pitch, focus on ourselves, and try to get the job done."
The Super Eagles are set to clash with a Morocco side that has stormed through the tournament unbeaten, fueled by roaring home support.
Nigeria, however, have dazzled with attacking flair and rock-solid defence, racking up five wins, 14 goals, and conceding just four on their march to the Afcon 2025 semifinals.
