Morocco forward Soufiane Rahimi has acknowledged the difficulty of his side’s upcoming clash against Nigeria ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations 2025 semifinal encounter, highlighting the challenge of facing one of the tournament’s in-form sides.
Rahimi, who made history at the last Olympic Games in Paris by scoring in every match, also reflected on his personal journey at the ongoing tournament after missing a penalty in Morocco’s opening defeat to Comoros.
Despite that setback, the forward emphasized his determination to maintain focus and consistency as the competition reaches the knockout stages.
Speaking on his mindset going into the semifinal against Nigeria, Rahimi stressed that his approach remains unchanged, underlining the importance of mental resilience in high-pressure matches.
According to Rahimi, his focus has been on maintaining the same mentality as Morocco prepare to face the Super Eagles.
He told reporters in Morocco: "The mentality never changes, the same mentality. Now I am in the good road. You know everybody know that this game is difficult but inshallah we will win inshallah for the fans for the people of Morocco."
His words reflected both confidence and a sense of responsibility towards the Moroccan supporters who will be cheering on their team in large numbers.
Nigeria head into the semifinal enjoying an impressive run at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, having won all their matches so far.
The Super Eagles will look to extend that perfect record when they face tournament hosts Morocco on Wednesday night, with a place in the final at stake.
Both sides are expected to produce an intense and competitive encounter as they battle for a spot in the championship decider.
