Chelsea have added the FIFA Club World Cup title to their trophy cabinet after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brazilian outfit Palmeiras on Saturday evening.
Romelu Lukaku gave the European champions the lead with a powerful header after a cross from Hudson-Odoi ten minutes into the second half but Raphael Veiga equalised from the spot to send the game to extra time.
Thomas Tuchel's team were able to find a way past the Brazilians thanks to Kai Havertz's game-winning strike from the spot with three minutes left to play.
Nigeria and Chelsea legend Obi Mikel monitored proceedings at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.
Mikel helped Chelsea qualify for the final of the 2012 Club World Cup, going the distance in the semifinal win over Monterrey but was an unused substitute against Sport Club Corinthians in the showpiece - a game in which Victor Moses was named in the Blues starting lineup.
The Club World Cup is the one trophy never won by Mikel during a ten-and-a-half-year association with Chelsea having picked up gold medals in the Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup, Community Shield, Champions League and Europa League.
Chelsea posted on Instagram, "CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD!! #ClubWorldCup #CFC #Chelsea", with an accompanying picture of Havertz celebrating his goal.
Mikel, who made 372 appearances for Chelsea, responded by liking the post.
