Nigeria-eligible striker makes cameo as Chelsea crash out of UYL after loss to Genk

Two-time winners Chelsea have crashed out of the UEFA Youth League after suffering a 5-1 loss to Belgian side Racing Genk at KRC Genk Arena - Stadium B  on Wednesday evening.

Of the seven Nigeria-eligible players registered by the Stamford Bridge outfit for the UEFA Youth League, only one tasted action, Bryan Fiabema and he came off the bench for the last sixteen minutes.

2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Prince Adegoke watched proceedings from the bench while Somto Boniface, Richard Olise, Derrick Abu, Louis Flower and Tudor Mendel-Idowu were omitted from the matchday squad.

A brace from Diawara and Geusens' strike saw the home team establish a three-goal lead by the 66th minute but Lewis Hall reduced the deficit from the spot at minute 70.

Abid made it 4-1 in the 77th minute following a counter attack and Cutillas-Carpe added further gloss to the scoreline in the 90th minute.

Had they beaten Racing Genk, Chelsea would have qualified for the last sixteen of the UEFA Youth League .

The young Blues have contested the final of the UEFA Youth League four times, more than any other club.
