Nigeria or Germany? Manchester United forward chooses country he'll represent at youth level

Talented Manchester United forward Noah Ajayi has opted to represent Germany at youth level, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Born in Hamburg, Ajayi is also eligible to play for Nigeria's Flying Eagles through his Nigerian father.

Germany have moved ahead of Nigeria by handing a maiden call-up to the dual-national forward for this month's 2027 European U19 Championship qualifiers.

DFB coach Hanno Balitsch has announced his 21-man squad for the matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina on March 25, Israel on March 28, and tournament hosts Austria on March 31, with Ajayi instructed to report for international duty early next week.

Should the 2008-born attacker feature in any of these games, he would be provisionally cap-tied to Germany and would need to apply for a change of association to represent Nigeria in the future.

Ajayi signed a scholarship deal with Manchester United in the summer of 2025 and has been eligible to sign a professional contract since November 2025, the month he turned 17.

Remarkably, he made his competitive debuts for United's U18 and U21 teams in his final season as a schoolboy.

This season, Ajayi has scored six goals in fourteen appearances across the U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup.
