Rizespor midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu was delighted with the Dream Team VII's 4-0 demolition of Libya on Monday evening, a result that sees them advance to the third round of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Nigeria U23 skipper insisted that they were not under pressure to turn the tie around after suffering a 2-0 loss in the first leg and revealed that the players held meetings to psych themselves up before today's clash.
''We were not under pressure actually, coming back home we knew we were going to have the fans just like the 12th man in the team,'' Okechukwu said at the post-match press conference attended by allnigeriasoccer.com.
''We knew we were going to do better, we had enough time traveling from the first game. We came back and we trained with the players coming in.
''So basically we are fine and going forward I think these group of players are wonderful players, we had several meetings before the game on our own and then we had to do so. Going forward will be better than this.''
On what the Nigeria U23s still need to do ahead of the third round of qualifiers, Azubuike said : ''I have been in this situation before, with the last U23s. Every game is difficult.
''I think with the group of players, if we come together and train like we did for the last three days, going forward I think we'll do better than we've done today''.
Azubuike, 21, won the U23 Africa Cup of Nations with the Dream Team VI back in 2015 and represented the country at the Olympic Games in Brazil a year later.
