No chance for Lawal to make full Nigeria debut against Jordan after Viktoria Plzen coach update

Viktoria Plzen forward Salim Fago Lawal  will miss the opportunity to make his full debut for Nigeria in their upcoming international friendly against Jordan.

The 23-year-old, who currently plays for Viktoria Plzen, was forced off the pitch due to injury during his club’s 2-0 victory over Bohemians Praha 1905 in the Chance Liga on Sunday.

The injury occurred in the ninth minute when Lawal received a pass from Dávid Krčík and attempted a shot on goal, which was saved by Bohemians goalkeeper Tomáš Frühwald.

Although he initially remained on the pitch, Lawal showed visible discomfort and received treatment from the medical staff on the sidelines. He was subsequently substituted in the 11th minute.

Viktoria Plzen coach Martin Hyský confirmed Lawal will remain sidelined until after the international break, effectively ruling him out of Nigeria’s friendly against Jordan

"It was a complication to substitute such an important player so early. We will do everything to get him back after a long international break," as reported by Eurofotbal.

Lawal had previously made his senior Nigeria debut as a late substitute in a pre-tournament friendly against Egypt in Cairo.

He then appeared in his first Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) game against Uganda, also coming on as a late substitute.

With the injury ruling him out of the friendly against Jordan, Lawal will now have to wait for a future opportunity to make a full debut for the Super Eagles.
