Super Eagles-eligible youngster Rio Ngumoha stole the spotlight as Liverpool defeated Fulham 2-0 in their Premier League Round 32 clash at Anfield on Saturday.
The teenager, who switched from Chelsea to Liverpool in a high-profile move, produced a moment of real quality to open the scoring.
Ngumoha unleashed a powerful strike that flew past Bernd Leno, giving Liverpool a deserved lead after a dominant spell of possession.
Liverpool doubled their advantage soon after through Mohamed Salah, who finished clinically after a well-timed assist from Cody Gakpo.
The second goal reflected Liverpool’s attacking fluidity and ensured they went into the break firmly in control.
Despite having represented England at youth level, Ngumoha remains eligible to play for Nigeria at senior level, keeping him firmly on the radar of Super Eagles selectors as he continues to develop in one of Europe’s most competitive environments.
Fulham, meanwhile, featured established Super Eagles internationals Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey in their starting line-up as Marco Silva’s side looked to respond at Anfield.
Samuel Chukwueze was introduced in the second half to add fresh attacking impetus, but all three Nigerian internationals struggled to make a decisive impact against Liverpool’s well-organised defensive structure.
