Obafemi Martins Named Seattle Sounders MVP For Second Year In A Row

For the second straight season, Nigeria international Obafemi Martins has been named the Most Valuable Player of Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders.<br /><br />The attacker joins Osvaldo Alonso as the only players to have won the prestigious award on more than one occasion.<br /><br />In the 2015 campaign, Martins finished with 15 goals from 24 games , the most by a Seattle Sounders player over the course of the season, despite battling an injury for two months.<br /><br />In other performance indices, the experienced forward led the way in the league shots-on-goal percentage (66.7) and his scoring percentage (35.7) was first in MLS.<br /><br />The 31 - year - old assisted the Super Eagles advance to the group stage of the World Cup qualifiers, featuring off the bench in both games against Swaziland.<br /><br />Photo Credit : mlssoccer.com<br />
