Obafemi Martins To Pocket N4 Billion In New One-Year Deal With Shanghai Shenhua
Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has extended his contract with Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua.<br /><br />The former Inter Milan, Newcastle United and Wolfsburg star first penned a one-season deal with the Gregorio Manzano-led side, but will now stay with the club until the end of the 2017 season based on the new agreement.<br /><br />Prior to today’s clash with <span>Changchun Yatai , </span>Martins had averaged 0.5 goals per game (15 goals from 30 appearances) in the current season, and those stats played a key role in the club’s decision to activate the one year contract extension clause earlier inserted into his deal in February 2016.<br /><br />The 32-year-old will pocket $9 million wages (equivalent of N4.1 billion) in the new deal that he signed, $2.4 million more than he was paid in 2016.<br /><br />Martins has also represented Seattle Sounders, Rubin Kazan, Levante UD and Birmingham City. <br /><br />Ifeanyi Emmanuel <br />
