Obi Mikel Has Not Yet Been Offered A New Contract By Chelsea
A representative of John Obi Mikel has cleared the air on suggestions that the Super Eagles star is in talks with Chelsea over a new deal.<br /><br />The defensive midfielder is enjoying a new lease of life under manager Guus Hiddink leading to speculation by the <i>Daily Mirror </i>that he is set to be offered a new contract.<br /><br />But there is no word from the Stamford Bridge suits if Mikel’s contract which expires at the end of next season would be renewed.<br /><br />“Chelsea have not yet offered Mikel a new deal, ” Mikel’s rep briefly told <b>allnigeriasoccer.com</b>.<br /><br />John Obi Mikel would have turned 30 by the time his contract with the Londoners expires in the summer of 2016 and the English Premier League champs have a policy of offering only one - year deals to players over the age of 30.<br /><br />The former Lyn Oslo starlet has played nonstop at Chelsea for ten years.<br /><br />Photo Credit : chelseafc.com<br />
