Official: Chelsea's England International Central Defender Joins West Ham United LFC
With a statement on their official website, West Ham United Ladies have announced the signing of Gilly Flaherty from FA WSL champions Chelsea.
The
England international center back became the sixth player to join West
Ham Ladies in the off season, following in the footsteps of Chelsea
teammates Claire Rafferty and Becky Spencer.
The 26-year-old Flaherty has won 22 trophies including eight league titles and seven FA Cups in her career.
In
her first words as a West Ham player, she said : ''I’m an out-and-out
winner. I’ve not come here to settle, to sit in mid table or to be
fighting relegation battles.
''I’ve
come here to help the club achieve things and go on to win things.
That’s what we want to do. It seemed like the perfect move for me and I
just can’t wait to get going now.''
A native of London, Gilly Flaherty has also turned out for capital outfits Arsenal Ladies and Millwall Lionesses.
